Weekend Lookbook: July 28- July 30

Welcome to this week's Weekend Lookbook! This week is all about adulting and also failing to adult. Let's begin with the non-adulting situation...

FRIDAY

My two closest friends in Miami both work for the school system, meaning they are off during the summer. They love reminding me of their blissful summer vacation daily, and last Thursday was no exception, when they shared they'd be heading to the beach the next day. So what does a true girl boss do? Stay up till about 1:30am and wake up at 7:30am to catch up on everything that needed to be done prior to meeting with them at 11am. Bam!! Luckily, I didn't have any client scheduled, which gave me that crazy flexibility! So off to the beach we went...

The day was absolutely beautiful and in my opinion the beach was pretty empty (but don't ask my beach bum friends who felt it was too busy...)

After the beach, came time to prepare for an impromptu dinner and dancing night. We wanted to explore options for my birthday coming up on Saturday and decided to test out Copper 29's new little brother Plomo on Miracle Mile. We liked Plumo and we are happy Coral Gables officially has a taco and tequila bar, but the atmosphere was more family-friendly and we were hoping to get more fun and dancing like at Copper 29. But this is all a matter of time, and we can't wait to see what it becomes!

After enjoying dinner at Plomo we stopped by the house to drop off my husband who had an early morning the next day and made our way to Wynwood! We somehow ended up in a Latin lounge-- Barrio! We are so happy that Isis' intuition lead her there. The music was absolutely perfect and not crowded at all! The entrance fee is $10 and that includes a ticket for a complementary drink! #Winning!

SATURDAY

Let's just say that other than going to the gym and buying my goddaughter's fabulous (SURPRISE) dress, we did NOTHING but recuperate from Friday's pachanga. Ohh... yes and at one point we watched the El Classico game... and well my husband is Portuguese so you can safely assume we are all about Real Madrid. (POBRECITOS)

SUNDAY

As you can tell the last two days had been all about lack of adulting, Sunday was the complete opposite. On Sunday I set out to decorate the bar cart that was gifted to us by my parents and sister. Here is a before shot (literally super bear and sad):

Here is the after (I am so in love):

So what do you need to decorate your perfect bar cart?

  • You need a cute bar car!. My parents found this one at ZGallerie.

  • Find a place ion your home that you can showcase your bar cart and is also easily accessible.

  • Decide a themes of décor. Our bar cart is all about tropical pieces, gold and pink accents, and marble touches. We keep this theme throughout the entire cart.

  • You need some liquor and some bar tools. All of these pieces should go with the décor and theme of your cart. Be careful not to put way too many alcohol bottles, remember that this a decorative piece as well. We found our cocktail shaker and wine rack at Crate and Barrel and found our barware at West Elm. We also found cute pineapples at Home Goods to use as decorative pieces.

  • When you can... try to keep some fresh finds (but if you are too busy like me, artificial accents work too)!In our case we found a pretty vase and bowl in gold at Home Goods. We wanted to put some fresh flowers and fruits, but I knew it would maintain for the first two week... and then life would happen. So we opted for some good fakes from Pier One... we found these flowers and an assortment of limes and lemons.

  • Always add a piece of art. We had this old one I printed two years ago (similar here) for my 27th birthday that was flamingo theme and thought it was very appropriate.

  • Enjoy it and use it!

Below are a couple more pictures showcasing all the details.

Hope you guys get inspired to recreate your own bar cart!

Love always, Jenni
