Weekend Lookbook: Birthday Festivities!

Welcome to the best weekend of the year for me... BIRTHDAY weekend! I'm not the type to celebrate a month or even a full birthday week, but I do love celebrating the weekend, especially if your birthday falls on a Saturday! Now I must be honest with you, this year the whole planning of my birthday was for lack of a better word... UNINSPIRING. As the day got closer, the more I did not know what to do or how to celebrate my birthday. With all the home remodeling projects going on, planning my birthday was at the end of my never-ending to do list. There's a part of me that wonders if the social pressure of turning 29 may have influenced my lack of wanting to celebrate this age. For the first time ever, I feel a disconnect between my existing age and the age I "feel" like I am. I was frankly not ready to celebrate what turning 29 means to me and the rest of my family... it's just not about getting older, but more about the fact that with aging comes more pressure of having a child and more questions of "when?" that day will be. This turning of age served as a gentle reality check. So what do you do when all of these thoughts are rummaging through your head... you plan a Twenty-Shine Pink Birthday Party When society tries to remind you that you are getting a little old, shrug it off and have fun! For this Weekend Lookbook, I'll focus on sharing more pictures of the places we visited to celebrate as well as the actual birthday party.

FRIDAY

To start off this birthday weekend, I tried a Beer Sake for the FIRST time! I know pretty lame, I had not tried one before, but I'm a little more of a wine drinker than a beer drinker. Overall, it was fun and the flavor was light.

Have you been to Sushi Kong? If you have not been... GO! We started our meal by sharing the Bacon Boom-- deep fried dates with chorizo and bacon served with a side salad and tzatziki Thai sauce (yup there's no cheese on the dates so it can be eaten by your non-cheese eating friends). For the meal, we all picked a different sushi roll, my choice was the Romeo and Juliet--crab, salmon crunch, cream cheese, spring onion covered with smoked salmon and avocado, half of the roll topped with shrimp ceviche and the other half is topped with sweet and sour shrimp. It was seriously the BEST sushi I've ever had!

I encourage you all to check-in on YELP when visiting Sushi King, you will receive à complimentary dessert! #Winning

SATURDAY

On Saturday, we partook in the 7th Annual Back to School BBQ at Chapman Partnership Homestead site. For all those new to the blog, I absolutely love helping my community and giving back. Chapman is an organization that easily allows me to do that. We had a day of fun in the sun as the children celebrated the end of the summer. I would love to give a special shout out to all council members for making me feel extra special on the day of my birthday! It was great to celebrate with close to 40 volunteers!

The Marques Initiative, the non-profit organization founded by my hiusband and I donated over 80 toys to the children at Chapman-- because nothing screams back to school as getting a new toy! Haha!

With the loves of my life ready to celebrate...

With the other loves of my life... lol!

We started the night with reservations at Chef Adrienne where we ordered some of these delicious plates:

Our dinner was absolutely amazing and we strongly recommend you visit Chef Adrienne's Vineyard (it's worth the drive). Our evening continued with some dancing!

SUNDAY:

And now for the day we were waiting for... my Pink Twenty-Shine Birthday Party:

Check out this pink ombré photo booth wall!

Everyone was eager to take pictures on our pink ombré balloon wall:

All pictures of the photo booth will be posted on our Facebook Page! Guests were able to take home their own Polaroid picture.

Now time for some cake:

After eating a delicious catered meal from The Daily Bread, came time for some cake. I found through Instagram a delicious bakery called Cloud 9 located in Pinecrest. Our cake was ombré pink with pink dripping and funfetti in the inside!! Now when it came time to cut the cake, I have no idea what possessed me to say "one... two... three... now sing to me!" It was at that precise time when this picture was taken and it captures everyone's reaction including my husbands.

Thank you to all those who helped me celebrate turning 29. You are very much appreciated!

Love always,

Jenni
