Casa Marques- Christmas Edition [Part One]

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year...” Christmas season begins at Casa Marques the very next day after Thanksgiving (aka “Black Friday”). Instead of running through the stores trying to find great deals, out Black Friday tradition consists of having family over cook our own version of Thanksgiving and have my mother put up our tree. It may seem silly to have my mom design our tree, but her taste is impeccable and Sergio and I know how much she loves decorating for Christmas. We call her our very own Christmas Elf!

This is the first year celebrating Christmas in our new home. We are splitting the Christmas blog post into two parts— indoor and outdoor decor. We hope you love our little Christmas home!

TIP: When you can, try to buy Christmas items a year in advance, you will get amazing deals. My mother found these reindeers last year at Pier 1 on sale for 50% off, this year they are back in stock!

TIP: Your Christmas tree is your work of art with all of its details. Remember to always place ornaments even deep inside the tree. Sit down and see at eye level if there is any spot missing. Also, change things up and vary your ornaments (don't try to be too match-matchy). Our tree has red and gold details with berry stems, but if you look close enough you may find silver jeweled birds and even snowmen.

This is our third year with our flocked tree... I love it and I believe the “frost” brings a little chill to sunny South Florida (details on where to buy below).

TIP: Get festive by swapping some of your existing candles with some Christmas candles. A simple change can help transform the space.

We cannot get over these Target dollar section “casitas.” It pays to get lost in Target's dollar section (right?).

TIP: Personalize everyone in your home’s stocking— whether it be by hand or stitched. We love these stockings from Pottery Barn (on SALE).

FYI: If you notice some pictures reflecting the current stocking and others not, we received the stockings the day we were posting this blog post. Not being able to conduct another photo shoot and eager to share with your our Christmas home, we went ahead with our scheduled post.

FYI: We are loving our brand new dining room light fixture. What a difference from our old wooden fan light. [Link to chandelier HERE .]

TIP: Don't forget the cookies for Santa--- calories only count when Santa consumes them.

Many of our Christmas items have been collected over the years, but if you were inspired by our Christmas Elf, we have done our best to link many of our Christmas goodies.
